The true measure of a project’s success is not just the work being done, but the growth of the people doing it. For the AGYW involved with COMAGEND, this is especially true. Their work in the community has opened doors to new opportunities, allowing them to expand their knowledge and evolve from passionate advocates into well-rounded leaders.

Habiba Hodi is a prime example. She recently defended her thesis for her DIPES II Diploma in Philosophy at the Higher Teachers Training College, earning an “Outstanding” grade. Her dissertation, “The Toxic Triad: The Role of Social Media in Fostering Immorality, Hate Speech, and Violence Among Secondary School Students in Cameroon,” shows a clear link between her civil society work and her academic pursuits. She didn’t stop there; she also has been selected as a Youth Advisor where she will lay the complains of young people as well as design works to address youthful issues especially the challenges faced by AGYW

Meanwhile, Sih Monica was a participant in the “Bloom Summit 2025,” where she was empowered to redefine conventional ideas of leadership and success. She gained practical skills in professional email communication, grant writing, and CV writing tools that will be invaluable for her future. The summit reinforced a key takeaway: “True success is when a girl chooses to learn, not just survive,” a lesson that she is now applying to her own life and work.
Finally, Fonlon Raisa deepened her expertise in a critical area by attending a training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This session challenged the common misconception that GBV is only a “woman’s thing” and highlighted how it affects everyone. The training enhanced her knowledge, equipping her to continue her vital work of sensitizing the community and encouraging both men and women to speak up against GBV.

These individual achievements demonstrate a powerful ripple effect. The advocacy works these girls do is not just a job; it’s a foundation that is launching them into broader roles, giving them the skills and confidence to lead, innovate, and drive change for years to come.
