The fight against HIV is a continuous battle, and in communities across Tubah and Mankon the MY sister My Friend peer educators are leading change through the “Vacances Sans SIDA” (Holidays Without AIDS) program. These peer educators are not just raising awareness; they are actively working to achieve a future with zero HIV infections among youth.

Recently, these young girls took part in a refresher course with the Regional Technical Group for HIV. They were trained on the the details of HIV, methods of prevention, treatment, and, most importantly, how to combat the pervasive stigma that still surrounds the virus.
This holiday program is a vital initiative designed to address the prevalence of HIV in the community directly.

By going into homes and meeting people where they are, these peer educators are building trust and ensuring that critical information reaches those who need it most. They are a living testament to the power of peer-to-peer education and are making tangible progress in improving the health and well-being of their generation.

Armed with this renewed knowledge, they embarked on a massive door-to-door campaign. In the month of August 2025, they reached an impressive 2,865 young girls. Their message is clear: use contraceptives, get tested, take your Antiretroviral medication if you have the virus, and, above all, practice empathy and understanding.
